CORE is providing safe and shallow nasal swab testing to anyone who wants to be tested, including symptomatic and asymptomatic people of all ages. There is no legal documentation requirement, and on-site registration is available. “The partnership is focused on offering more access to quality COVID-19 testing, especially in vulnerable high-risk communities disproportionately affected by the pandemic, including low-income groups and communities of color”, said Lisa Crossman, Deputy Director, Cobb & Douglas Public Health.
“CORE and our testing partners share a community-centered approach that is based on building and sustaining community relationships and providing service that is rooted in the needs of the community. Our CORE GA STRIKE TEAM has partnered with Cobb & Douglas Public Health, to offer free COVID-19 testing to the community. Our relief efforts in emergency response are most impactful when stakeholders of the community are activated,” said CORE Georgia Area Manager Jonathan Golden.
CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and strengthening communities affected by or vulnerable to crisis. Within hours of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, founder Sean Penn mobilized a powerful network to take immediate action. More than 10 years later, COREcontinues to lead sustainable programs focused on four pillars: emergency relief, disaster preparedness, environmental resiliency and community building. The organization has expanded beyond Haiti to support communities in The Bahamas, Puerto Rico and the United States. CORE has taken a leadership position in the COVID-19 response to provide free testing for high-risk individuals and vulnerable communities.
